# Discord Roles

> Create custom Discord roles, organization role sets, and agency roles with AI-assisted design: custom names, colors, gradients, and icons.

Esports Hub lets you create custom Discord roles, organization role sets, agency roles, and business roles with AI-assisted design. This guide covers each role type, eligibility requirements, and how invite tracking works.

<Info>
  Every role on Esports Hub (custom, organization, agency, and business) is cosmetic only. It shows your identity in the Esports Hub server and grants no Discord permissions, moderation powers, or special access.
</Info>

## Custom Roles

Custom roles are personal roles that appear next to your name in the Discord server. They let you express your identity with a unique name, color, and icon. A custom role is cosmetic only and grants no permissions.

### What You Can Customize

* **Role name** - Choose a display name that represents you, your team, or your brand.
* **Color** - Pick a solid color or create a gradient effect. Colors are displayed on your username in the server member list and in chat.
* **Icon** - Upload a custom icon that appears next to the role name. You can use team logos, personal branding, or any image you like.

<Tip>
  Use the AI Chat to design your custom role. Upload your logo and ask for color suggestions that match your branding - the assistant can recommend hex codes, gradient combinations, and icon adjustments.
</Tip>

### Eligibility

Custom roles are not available to everyone by default. You must meet one of the following requirements:

* **Invite 5 members** - Successfully invite five people to the Esports Hub Discord server using your personal invite link. Each invite is verified to ensure the new member actually joined through your link.
* **Server Boost** - Boost the Esports Hub Discord server to instantly unlock custom role creation.

<Info>
  You can track your invite progress on the Discord Roles page. The counter updates in real time as new members join through your link.
</Info>

## Organization Roles

Organization roles are designed for esports teams and organizations that want a branded presence in the server. Unlike custom roles, org roles create a full hierarchy of staff positions under your organization name. Like every Esports Hub role, they are cosmetic only and grant no Discord permissions or special status, the names just label your structure.

### Eligibility

To create an organization role, your Discord server must meet one of the following requirements:

* **At least 500 members and 4 months old** - Your server must have at least 500 members and be at least 4 months old from creation or re-launch. The validation tool checks both automatically when you submit your invite link.
* **5 verified invites** - If your server doesn't meet both of those, you can still qualify by inviting 5 new members to the Esports Hub Discord server through a tracking link generated during validation.

<Info>
  Server age is checked when you submit your Discord invite link during the role creation flow. If your server qualifies on age, you proceed directly to designing the role. Otherwise the flow pauses until you reach 5 verified invites.
</Info>

### Org Owner & Co-Owner Roles

After your organization role is created, you can claim an Org Owner or Co-Owner role in the Esports Hub server. These roles are verified through a screenshot of your Discord server proving your position.

| Role      | Who It's For                                                                                                                                       |
| --------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Org Owner | The organization founder or primary leader. You must hold an ownership-level role in your Discord server (Owner, Founder, CEO, or similar). |
| Co-Owner | A co-founder or secondary leader of the organization. You must hold a co-ownership role in your Discord server (Co-Owner, Co-Founder, or similar). |

### How to Get Verified

<Steps>
  <Step title="Create your org role first">
    Use the AI Chat to create your organization role set with your branding, logo, and color scheme. The role must be fully created before you can claim ownership.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Tell the AI your position">
    After your org role is created, the AI will ask if you are the owner or co-owner of the organization. You can also start this flow separately by telling the AI you want the org owner or co-owner role.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Upload a screenshot">
    Take a screenshot of your Discord server that shows your username with an ownership-level role visible. The AI uses this to verify your position.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Automatic verification">
    The screenshot is analyzed to confirm your Discord username matches your account and that a valid ownership role is visible. If everything checks out, the role is assigned automatically.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Info>
  If your screenshot shows a Co-Owner role but you selected Owner, the system will automatically assign the correct Co-Owner role instead.
</Info>

<Tip>
  Valid ownership titles include Owner, Co-Owner, Founder, Co-Founder, CEO, Director, President, Managing Director, and similar leadership positions.
</Tip>

### Org Socials

Once your org role is set up and you have the Owner or Co-Owner role, you can post your team's links in the org-socials channel so other members can find and follow you.

| Property     | What it means                                                                                                  |
| ------------ | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Who can post | Orgs that are at least 4 months old. |
| Cost         | Free.                                                                                                          |
| What to post | Your website, X / Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, recruitment pages, and any other official org channels. |

To add your links, open the org-socials channel and follow the pinned instructions, or ask the AI Chat on the website to do it for you.

<Info>
  Only official org links are allowed. Personal social handles, affiliate links, and third-party promos will be removed.
</Info>

## Agency Roles

Agency roles are built for talent agencies and management companies that represent multiple players or content creators. They provide a distinct visual identity in the server that signals professional representation.

Agency roles work similarly to organization roles - you upload your agency logo, choose a color scheme, and the role set is created with your branding. Members represented by your agency can be assigned the role to show their affiliation. These roles are cosmetic only and grant no permissions.

### Eligibility

To create an agency role, your agency Discord server must meet one of the following requirements:

* **At least 250 members and 2 months old** - Your agency server must have at least 250 members and be at least 2 months old from creation or re-launch.
* **5 verified invites** - If your server doesn't meet both of those, you can qualify by inviting 5 new members to the Esports Hub Discord server through a tracking link generated during validation.

<Info>
  Agency roles are separate from organization roles. A player can hold both an organization role (for their team) and an agency role (for their representation) at the same time.
</Info>

## Business Roles

Business roles are for companies and brands that run a Discord server and want a branded presence in the Esports Hub server. Like org and agency roles, you upload your logo, choose a color scheme, and the role is created with your branding. They are cosmetic only and grant no permissions.

### Eligibility

To create a business role, your business Discord server must meet one of the following requirements:

* **At least 250 members and 2 months old** - Your business server must have at least 250 members and be at least 2 months old from creation or re-launch.
* **5 verified invites** - If your server doesn't meet both of those, you can qualify by inviting 5 new members to the Esports Hub Discord server through a tracking link generated during validation.

After your business role is created, you can claim the optional **Business Owner** role. Unlike organizations, business roles do not have a co-owner role.

<Info>
  Organization, agency, and business role requests for very large Discord servers (100,000 or more members) are sent to our staff for review before the role is created. If your server is flagged for review, you will be notified during validation and again once staff approve the request, after which you can finish creating the role.
</Info>

## Requirements & Maintenance

Roles are not permanent by default. Depending on the role type, there are ongoing requirements to keep your role active:

* **Custom roles** - If you earned your role through invites, your role stays as long as the invited members remain in the server. If enough of your invitees leave and you drop below the threshold, the role may be removed.
* **Server Boost roles** - Your custom role remains active as long as you continue boosting the server. If you stop boosting, the role will be removed.
* **Org, Agency & Business roles** - These roles are managed by the organization, agency, or business owner and are not subject to invite requirements.

<Warning>
  Roles can be automatically removed if you no longer meet the requirements. You will receive a notification before removal so you have time to take action, such as inviting more members or renewing your server boost.
</Warning>

## Invite Tracking

Esports Hub tracks invites through personalized invite links. When you share your link and someone joins the server through it, that invite is counted toward your total.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Generate your invite link">
    Visit the Discord Roles page and click the button to generate your personal invite link. This link is unique to your account.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Share the link">
    Send your link to friends, teammates, or community members. Post it on social media, in other Discord servers, or anywhere you like.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Track progress">
    The roles page shows your current invite count in real time. Once you reach 5 verified invites, custom role creation is automatically unlocked.
  </Step>
</Steps>

Only verified joins count toward your total. The system confirms that the new member actually joined through your specific link and remained in the server. Duplicate accounts and members who leave immediately are not counted.

<Tip>
  Your invite link never expires and can be reused indefinitely. Share it as widely as you want - every new member who joins through it counts toward your progress.
